Amsterdam event marks a full-circle moment for Vega IT

When Sasa and Vladan founded Vega IT back in 2008, the reality we live today was almost unimaginable. And yet - here we are.
Our recent event in Amsterdam was a truly memorable experience. In collaboration with the Dutch-Serbian Business Association and Emily, we brought together our clients, partners, entrepreneurs, and members of the Serbian community living and working in the Netherlands.
But, why is the Netherlands so important to Vega IT?
Our humble beginnings are closely tied to Netherlands. Seventeen years ago, as a small company with just a few employees, we secured our very first client from the Netherlands. Today, we work with more than 200 clients across the globe, with offices in London, Riyadh, New York, Serbia, and Montenegro with big plans for the future.
Fireside chat - Breaking the Overnight Success Myth: Vega IT origin story
Returning to the Netherlands almost two decades later to showcase our CEO's book, “Breaking the Overnight Success Myth", and talk about the origin story of Vega IT felt amazing.
We kicked off the event with a candid conversation with Emily, discussing the origin story of Vega IT that he wrote about in his book - no sugarcoating, just an honest discussion filled with real-world stories of both success and failure.
Sasa emphasised the importance of not getting distracted by tales of “overnight success.” Even if success comes quickly, sustaining it requires time, dedication, discipline, and hard work.
Our first clients came from the Netherlands 17 years ago. Sitting there in Amsterdam, in that amazing venue, and talking about my book on Vega IT truly felt like a full-circle moment. What had once been just a student dream that my business partner Vladan and I shared had become a global reality. It was a pleasure to talk with all the participants about their businesses, dreams, and challenges - I’ll carry this moment with me for a long time.
Key takeaways:
- Success is a marathon, not a sprint - enjoy the journey.
- Discipline is foundational for everything you do - When motivation fades, discipline will keep you going.
- Authenticity and transparency matter
- Entrepreneurship is a joint effort - you simply cannot do everything alone. Invest in the people around you.
- Always be prepared for tough times because they will come
It was a true privilege to sit down with him on stage and dive deeper into the stories and lessons he shares in the book. Our conversation touched on all the essential themes that contribute to lasting success - discipline, creativity, being people-focused, self-awareness, the power of marketing, continuous improvement, and the importance of being prepared for both the best and the worst. Above all, the idea of lifelong learning stood out as a thread running through it all. What truly made the evening special were the many thoughtful and engaging questions from the audience. We could have easily kept the conversation going for hours. The whole event came together beautifully - held in a stunning venue, with delicious bites, and plenty of meaningful conversations before and after the talk. It was an evening that left me inspired and grateful to have been part of it.
Thank you all for your questions, interest, honesty, and positive energy. We’re truly honoured to have had the opportunity to return to the Netherlands and share our experiences and stories with you. Until next time!
