Vega IT Mentorship programs - Slađana Miljanović & Sezana Filipović

By: Maja Colak

Learning is a lifelong process that can't be ended if one is in search for knowledge, either personal or professional.

Leaving aside your level of professionalism and the stage you currently are in your career, the benefits of a mentorship program are endless. The guidance, encouragement and support of a trusted and experienced mentor can provide the mentee with a broad range of personal and professional benefits, which ultimately lead to improved performance in the workplace.

At Vega IT, we have developed two different Mentorship programs for our colleagues:

  • Front-end developers and
  • Software developers.

What our colleagues said about Vega IT Front-end Mentorship program?

Sladjana Miljanovic

My journey at Vega IT started 8 years ago, right after I finished college. Looking back now, I could not even imagine that I would find myself in an environment that would allow me to improve myself on a daily basis. During my first few years at Vega IT, I had grown as a developer and that gave me an opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with my colleagues. Our team is really special, mainly because you don’t need to have formal education to be a front-end developer, and some of my colleagues came from completely different, non IT fields and became successful developers thanks to our mentorship program.

Since I see every project and every task as a challenge, helping someone grow as a professional is a personal challenge for me. As our team got bigger, we all learned together and on that way we created an internal knowledge base that is used on a daily basis by all our teammates. So let me paint you a front-end picture. Front-end is complicated in a beautiful way. You need to know all kinds of different things and to collect all the small pieces in order to make a puzzle. All you need is a desire a positive attitude and you’ll have it all.

Sezana Filipovic

I was a self-taught Front-end Developer and I started to work at Vega IT about three months ago. Having a mentor was very helpful, especially at the beginning of my career. She shared her experience, insight and best practices and made me learn faster and become more confident in my work while also discovering my own passion for building front-end solutions.

Thanks to her guidance it was much easier for me to learn new tools and technologies and by following my work, she always showed me how I could improve it and make it more efficient.

I find it useful that there is somebody committed to discuss my career progression with me and to share personal experience which is not directly involved with my day-to-day activities.
